| Lin Guan Ming in Fukuoka X Taipei Art Exhibition |
Aki Gallery and Taiwan Contemporary Art Link are pleased to announce artist Lin Guan Ming will show in Art Party of Fukuoka X Taipei Art Exhibition, Fukuoka Art Museum, Japan, from 10 to 16 June.
Fukuoka X Taipei Art Exhibition, an exhibition for art exchange, is composed by 2 different exhibitions. The Essence, a duo show of Taiwan artist CHEN Kai Huang and Japan artist ABE Marmoru, is an exhibition focusing on the relationships between people and spaces/environments by 2 established artists. Art Party, a group show of artists from graduate school of Taipei National University of the Arts and Fukuoka University of Education, presents the variation of the young Asian artists.
Lin Guan Ming, the emerging video artist in Taiwan, will show After Flying in the show. In his sentimental videos, Lin Guan Ming films the common landscape and transforms them into the metaphor of the spirits.

| Thinking: Grand Tour in Asia, How India Art Market Differs from China |
Several Asian art news clips:
1. Next year will surely be a year for Asia, not only because of the Beijing Olympic, but the numerous biennales/ triennials. Recently, Biennales of Gwangju, Singaoire, Shanghai, Sydney and Yokohama have team up and might be the next grand tour for art lovers. (But where is Taipei Biennale? )

| Report: Sales Increased in Taiwan Auctions |
After the hot week in London, it is time for us to review the sales in Taiwan. Same as the other countries, auction houses in Taiwan play more and more important roles in the contemporary art market.
The art market of Taipei, once the base for Sotheby’s and Christie’s in Asia, had bursted after 1995. During the last decade, lots of the galleries and auction houses closed down while others went to China for new business. However, with the booming of Chinese contemporary arts, the market in Taiwan has revived from 2005. The transactions in Art Taipei could be a powerful evidence.
The new phenomenon of Taiwan art market is the high percentage of Chinese arts and the blooming of auction houses. From this spring, there are 2 new auction houses founded and started their first auction. These 4 auction houses, Ravenal, Ching Shiun International, ZongCheng, Kingsley, all hit their records in sales this June, and NT$1.3billion in total (approx. US$39.5million).

| Catch it if You Can! Chang Teng Yuan, Chiu Chih Wei Duo Exhibition |
Taiwan Contemporary Art Link and Dynasty Art Galleryare pleased to present the duo exhibitions of two emerging artists, Chang Teng Yuan 張騰遠and Chiu Chih Wei 邱銍韋. Both born after 1970’s, Chang and Chiu have been deeply influenced by digital images and cartoon icons and have developed their unique language of art creation.
Chang Teng Yuan, an emerging artist has been actively showing in alternative spaces in Taiwan, utilizes the vivid color and transformed cartoon characters to represnt the culture complex of Taiwan young people. On the other hand, Chiu Chih Wei borrows the images from the Buddhism and interprets them as a new form of arts. His paintings show the inner of our culture roots.
The duo exhibition will be until June 30.

| Taiwan Exhibition at the 2007 Venice Biennale |
Taiwan Contemporary Art Link is honored to introduce the Taiwan Exhibition at the 2007 Venice Biennale. Organized by The Taipei Fine Arts Museum, the Taiwan exhibition curated by curator Lin Hongjohn 林宏璋presents the special position of Taiwan. Five artists, representing a variety of different disciplines, will take part: TSAI Ming-liang 蔡明亮, TANG Huang-chen 湯皇珍, LEE Guo-min 李國民, HUANG Shih-chieh黃世傑, and VIVA.
Lin Hongjohn 林宏璋 names the exhibition as ATOPIA, a neologism of Utopia, to show the negative of the dreamland, Lin Hongjohn also quotes the concept of Helmut Willke, the German sociologist, to suggest the serous consideration should be given not only to utopia but also to atopias and heterotopias. The utopias and heterotopias are still places of differences, but atopia is a “non-space”, which is not considered by any boundary because of the transformation by the economic and political dynamism of globalization. The disappearance of boundaries, the mixing and merging of culture, virtual space shaped by internet and information technology, and transnational consumption and post Ford priduction, indicate the effect of globalization where spatial configurations cannot be subsumed by single nationality and idendity.

| 6 Video Artists in Scope Basel Urban Nomad Project |
Taiwan Contemporary Art Link, Aki Gallery and Galerie Grand Siecle are pleased to announce their artists: Chen Wan-Jen陳萬仁, Hou I-Ting侯怡亭, Lin Guan-Ming 林冠名, Chen Yung-Hsien 陳永賢, Kuo I-Chen 郭奕臣, Wang Ya-Hui王雅慧, will show in Scope Basel Urban Nomad Project, from June 11 to 17.
Urban Nomad Film Fest is based in Taipei and has been held over the last six years in Taiwan, showing films and video arts from Taiwan and China, southeast Asia, North America and etc. The Scope Art Fair has named Urban Nomad 's director David Frazier as recipient of its "Independent Curator Award" and invited Urban Nomad to show its program of films at Scope Basel. | Kuo I Chen in ZKM - The Thermocline of Art- New Asian Waves |
Taiwan Contemporary Art Link and Galerie Grand Siecle are honored to announce artist Kuo I Chen is invited to the group show "The Thermocline of Art- New Asian Waves" in ZKM, from June 9 to October 21.
"The Thermocline of Art - New Asian Waves", curated by Korean curator Wonil Rhee, will be an opportunity to explore contemporary Asian art in depth. The influence of Asian art gradually expanded creating a new wave and transcending the dichotomy between western and non-western worlds. Through humanities, archeology, anthropology, and religion, the current Asia phenomenon such as coexistence between tradition and modernity, the confrontation between globalism and localism will be explored.
Kuo I Chen, the well-known emerging Taiwan new media artist, is invited to show his video installation "Invade" in ZKM. In "Invade", Kuo uses the shadow and sound of an airplane to reflect the uncertainty of subjectivity. It is also a metaphor of chaos or destruction of human nature.
"Invade" has been shown in Taipei Biennale 2004 and the 51th international Art Exhibition of Venice Bienale.

| Artist News: Yao Jui Chung is invited to Artists at Glenfiddich 07 |
Taiwan Contemporary Art Link and Galerie Grand Siecle are pleased to announce artist Yao Jui Chung 姚瑞中 is invited to the Artists in Residence program of Glenfiddich 2007.
The Artists in Residence program of Glenfiddich started 2002. The committee selected seven contrasting visual artistsevery year from across the world, inviting them to the distillery, where they are given the opportunity to create an individual expression of the independent spirit. All the artists work in different media, confirming and interpreting craftsmanship in a variety of ways: film and video making, sculpture, painting, performance and much more.
Yao Jui Chung, who specialises in photography, installation and art theory, plans on making some new works inspired by the flora and fauna he finds around the distillery site for display upon his return to Taiwan. As well as planning to make some 'golden drawings' representing the water of life He also intends to write book detailing his experiences while in residence for publication in 2008. ......《more》 |

| Report: Wang Ya Hui and Galerie Grand Siecle in Loop |
Taiwan Contemporary Art Link and Galerie Grand Siecle are pleased to premier Wang Ya Hui's new video work "Visitors" in Loop' 07, Barcelona. Loop, the most important video art festival, presents Loop art fair for video galleries on the last three days of the festival. 45 international galleries participated this time and showed the new work of one of their artists in the hotel room.
Wang Ya Hui's new video work "Visitors" continues her internal dialogue by creating the poetic common scene. The tiny variation of the wall, or the slow movement of the clouds arise the audience's curiousness as well as their imagination.
Wang Ya Hui and Galerie Grand Siecle won the Best Gallery of Loop'07.
